Born Sophie Danièle Sylvie Maupu within Paris, France, at the age of Fourteen she starred in the teen moving picture La Boum (1980). All-night, a film elevated her to adolescent idol status around France & numbers of more European countries. Around 1983, she was honored with the Cesar Award, France's equivalent of an Oscar, for "Most Promising Actress".

2 years late, a less funny however other sentimental sequel La Boum Two (1982) increased her popularity farther. At age Sixteen, she played the additional demanding role around Fort Saganne (1984), where her co-stars were Gérard Depardieu and Catherine Deneuve. A equivalent season she played using Jean-Paul Belmondo in Joyeuses Pâques (1984).
